Old Town Alexandria shines in September, with vibrant festivals and cultural events drawing locals and visitors alike. Whether you love art, music, or fall traditions, there’s something for everyone. Here’s your guide to what’s happening this September in Alexandria.
Alexandria Fall Art Festival Returns
The 23rd Annual Alexandria Fall Art Festival takes place the weekend of September 13–14, 2025, at John Carlyle Square. Presented by Howard Alan Events, this free juried art show is one of the top-ranked art festivals in the country. It’s also known as the King Street Art Festival and transforms Carlyle into an outdoor gallery. So fun!
Hundreds of artists will display original works across a wide variety of media. Visitors can browse and buy paintings, ceramics, jewelry, photography, glass, and sculptures directly from the artists. With its high-quality art and relaxed atmosphere, the festival is perfect for a first date or family stroll.
Alexandria Oktoberfest Set for September 27
Prost! Old Town celebrates Oktoberfest early this year with an all-day party at Carlyle Square on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Alexandria Oktoberfest offers traditional Bavarian music, craft beer, and authentic German food like soft pretzels and bratwurst. The outdoor beer garden sets the stage for a festive experience.
This family-friendly event also features cultural dance performances, artisan booths, and classic games. Guests are encouraged to dress in dirndls or lederhosen and enjoy a fun-filled day celebrating German culture. Watch for lederhosen on the Old Town Alexandria webcam.
